This Privacy Policy explains how Sizzers the Barber ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website at https://www.sizzersthebarber.com (the "Service") or book an appointment with us. We are the data controller for your personal information under UK data protection law, which includes the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
Sizzers the Barber, 32 King Street, Wigton, Cumbria CA7 9EJ. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, please contact us at admin@sizzersthebarber.com.
When you book an appointment, we collect your first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, the date and time of your appointment, and whether you would like an SMS reminder. When you contact us through the website, we collect your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message. When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically logs limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, which helps us keep the site secure and working properly.
We use your information to manage and confirm your booking and to contact you about it — our lawful basis is performance of a contract with you. We send SMS appointment reminders only where you have opted in — our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We respond to enquiries and keep records of appointments to run the business and to meet our accounting and legal obligations — our lawful bases are our legitimate interests and compliance with a legal obligation. We keep the website secure using strictly necessary cookies — our lawful basis is our legitimate interests. We do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or carry out any automated decision-making or profiling.
If you opt in to SMS reminders, your name and mobile number are shared with our SMS provider purely to send that reminder. You can opt out at any time by contacting us, and opting out will not affect your booking.
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to operate the booking process and keep the site secure; these do not require your consent. If we introduce any non-essential cookies (for example analytics) in future, we will ask for your consent first through a cookie banner. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Service may not work properly without them.
We share your information only where necessary to provide the Service: with our website hosting provider, our email provider and our SMS provider, each of whom acts on our instructions and may only use your information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Some of our providers may process your information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement — so that your information remains protected.
We keep appointment and contact details only for as long as we need them to provide the Service and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations — generally up to six years for records needed for accounting, and a shorter period for enquiries that do not lead to a booking. When we no longer need your information, we securely delete or anonymise it.
Our website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, account passwords are stored in a hashed form, and we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit who can access it.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@sizzersthebarber.com. We will respond within one month, and this is usually free of charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at admin@sizzersthebarber.com so we can try to put things right. You have the right to make a complaint to us, and we will acknowledge it and respond without undue delay. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Our Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will tell you by other means.
